Portmore, 16 July 2023. A representation of the Cuban Embassy in Jamaica headed by Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Rolando Davila Gallardo participated in the Annual Conference of the People's National Party Women's Movement.
On behalf of the Federation of Cuban Women, the Third Secretary Anabel Landrón Ochoa transmitted a congratulatory message in which the willingness to strengthen the bonds of sisterhood and cooperation was ratified. The support of Jamaican women in the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government was also acknowledged.
This event was part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the organisation, recognised as the main architect of historic progressive policies such as the Jamaican Paid Maternity Leave Act, and for its quest for greater participation of women in national life and, more specifically, in political life.
