Gokwe, April 18, 2025 - Cuba was present today at the official commemoration of the 45th anniversary of Zimbabwe's independence, led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in this town in the Midlands province.
The Head of Mission of the Caribbean nation, Her Excellency Ms. Susellys Pérez Mesa, joined the celebration along with the diplomatic corps.
On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of independence, President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla sent congratulatory messages to their Zimbabwean counterparts.
With Vision 2030 - Zimbabwe at 45, Mnangagwa highlighted the results of the policies implemented in the so-called Second Republic, although he reiterated the effects of the sanctions imposed on the African country.
Addressing those present in Gokwe, about 300 kilometers west of Harare, the president praised the programs underway in agriculture, infrastructure, women's rights, and youth, with GDP growth projected to reach 6 percent by 2025.
He emphasized that land is the nation's heritage and requires investment, as well as the use of solar energy in rural communities.
He also reaffirmed the commitment to building a future that will be a source of pride for new generations, utilizing science, technology, and innovation in areas such as pharmaceutical production.
Mnangagwa emphasized the policy of promoting interregional trade and multilateralism.
