Cuba present in the programme “We are neighbours: Diplomatic dialogues with the UWI, Mona”.

Kingston, 1 October 2025. The Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, participated as a panellist in the programme ‘We are neighbours: diplomatic dialogues with the UWI, Mona’, organised by the Latin American and Caribbean Centre of the University of the West Indies (UWI).

The Cuban diplomat exchanged views with students from the faculties of Social Sciences, Humanities and Education, and Law on distinctive aspects of our country's foreign policy and the historical ties that unite Cuba with the Caribbean, particularly Jamaica. He also highlighted the importance of South-South cooperation and regional integration mechanisms such as CELAC and CARICOM for the fulfilment of the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the impact on the Cuban economy and society of the cruel economic, commercial and financial blockade illegally imposed by the United States government against the island.

The Ambassador of Colombia to Jamaica, Emiliana Bernard Stephenson, participated also as a panellist.
