Stockholm, August 26, 2023- The Embassy of Cuba in Sweden enthusiastically joined the Race for Peace, in its edition held in Stockholm whose central race is organized by various organizations. The event, which stands for peace and against arms, is dedicated this year to supporting international solidarity with the Palestinian cause, rejecting NATO and supporting Cuba.
The first Race for Peace in 1985, supported the prohibition of nuclear weapons. In the call presented on its website, the organizers give this year's edition a particular connotation given the increase in belligerence in the world.
In her greeting to the participants of the event, the Ambassador of Cuba Alba Soto, thanked the solidarity and support for the beautiful Caribbean island, which contributed to breaking the unjust and genocidal blockade of the United States, to which it has been subjected for more 60 years old. She also ratified Cuba's support for the Palestinian cause and reaffirmed the island's commitment to promoting peace, justice, and solidarity throughout the world—a special thanks to the organizers of the event, especially the Club Proletaren.
Representing Cuban youth, the Third Secretary of the Cuban Embassy in Sweden, Yohanna Cordero participated as a competitor in the race along with other friends from Cuba.
As a show of solidarity, a part of the funds raised this year will be used for the noble purpose of inviting a Cuban soccer team to participate in the Gothia Cup, which is held every year in Sweden and is very popular.
