Kingston, 19 March 2024. The Third Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica Anabel Landrón Ochoa participated in the Spanish Language Immersion Day 2024, organised by the Spanish-Jamaican Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Youth of Jamaica.
The Cuban diplomat exchanged with Kingston high school students on Cuban history, culture and traditions. She also highlighted the historic ties of brotherhood that unite the two nations and the significance of José Martí, Antonio Maceo and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro for Latin America and the Caribbean. This annual academic exercise, conducted in Spanish, contributed to the preparation of the students for the proficiency exams to be held in April.
During the event, the Minister of Education and Youth, the Honourable Fayval Williams, acknowledged the important work done by the members of the Cuban Education Brigade working in Jamaica in teaching Spanish and other subjects.
