The annual celebration of the Latin America and the Caribbean Week at UNESCO was a propitious occasion for the presentation of a photographic exhibition about Havana city and its emblematic places recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage.
The exhibition by the renowned Cuban photographer Julio Larramendi was inaugurated by the Ambassador of Cuba to UNESCO María del Carmen Herrera Caseiro, and had the participation of Ms. Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director General of the international Organization.
In her presentation, the Cuban representative recreated the history of the city since its founding in 1519, highlighting the architectural wealth of its historic center, made up of a set of ancient monuments, fortresses, squares, churches, palaces, among other elements of a high patrimonial value. She also highlighted the extraordinary beauty of its buildings, which contain an interesting mix of baroque and neoclassical monuments; as well as a homogeneous set of houses with arcades, balconies, iron gates and interior courtyards.
At the end of her presentation, the Cuban diplomat invited attendees to enjoy the exhibition, encouraging them to visit the city in the future, to directly admire this treasure of Cuban heritage, live its history and experience its culture first-hand.
