Havana, September 17, 2025. — The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, presented today the update of the National Report on the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, corresponding to the period from March 2024 to February 2025, pursuant to Resolution 79/7 of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Minister stated that the blockade has tightened to unprecedented levels, affecting all sectors of Cuba’s economic and social life. Between March 2024 and February 2025, the damages amounted to 7.56 billion USD, representing a 49% increase compared to the previous year. “No sector of national life escapes its consequences,” Rodríguez Parrilla emphasized, denouncing the financial and commercial persecution that hinders Cuba’s international transactions.
Addressing the Diplomatic Corps and national and foreign press, the Foreign Minister stressed that the blockade remains the main obstacle to Cuba’s economic and social development, restricting access to supplies, technology, medicines, and financing. He also pointed out that, without the blockade, Cuba’s GDP would have grown by 9.2% over the past year.
Rodríguez Parrilla reaffirmed Cuba’s readiness to maintain a respectful and sovereign dialogue with the government of the United States, and called on the international community to strengthen its support for the demand to end this unilateral policy. The report precedes the debate scheduled for October 28–29 at the United Nations General Assembly on the draft resolution “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba.”
