Cuba ratifies its will to boost and expand collaboration in ALBA-TCP

Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel reiterated on Wednesday the will of his government to boost collaboration with the members of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP).

During a virtual meeting with representatives of the member countries, the head of State called for exchanging experiences within the entity to face the aftermaths of Covid-19 crisis in the region.

'We offer to provide advice to face new challenges in the epidemiological field and we make the Institute of Tropical Medicine Pedro Kouri available to ALBA countries as a consultant in this area,' indicated the president.

'Cuba maintains the will to boost and expand collaboration on the public healthcare front in the alliance,' he stressed.

'We must identify the strengths of each country to contribute to the economic and regional integration that prioritizes complementarity, each country producing what is most competitive and exchanging goods and services,' he said.

In this context, Diaz-Canel rejected the effects of the US economic and financial blockade for attempting against the development of nations such as Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua.

The virtual meeting of ALBA-TCP, promoted by Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro analyzes today the complex global economic situation due to the effects of the pandemic.

The meeting's goal is to establish criteria and proposals to jointly face economic challenges.
