CUBA REAFFIRMS ITS COMMITMENT TO PEACE, INCLUSION AND SOCIAL JUSTICE IN THE UNITED NATIONS

This Wednesday, in the framework of the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), Zonya Rivero López, Second Secretary of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), highlighted Cuba's commitment to peace, inclusion and social justice during her statement in the interactive dialogue "Peaceful and Inclusive Societies".

She emphasized that the fight against terrorism and human trafficking is fundamental to the policies and actions of the Cuban State, in line with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He highlighted Cuba's contribution to the maintenance of international and regional peace and security, as well as compliance with international law.

At the same time, he reiterated our country's rejection of terrorism in all its forms, as a State Party to the 19 international instruments against this scourge. He also highlighted the implementation of the National Action Plan to Combat Trafficking in Persons, with a policy of zero tolerance.

In his speech, Rivero López explained that in Cuba, due process is guaranteed in the judicial system, with guarantees for all parties involved, decisions based on evidence, and compliance with sentences. He emphasized that human rights are protected not only in the Constitution, but also in other substantive and procedural rules, with a gender approach.

In this sense, he stressed that all citizens have access to justice without discrimination, with resources and mechanisms to enforce their rights under equal conditions. She mentioned the ratification of international treaties to protect the rights of women and girls, and the presentation of the ninth report to CEDAW in 2024.

The Cuban official concluded by reaffirming Cuba's commitment to promoting peaceful and inclusive societies, access to justice for all, and building effective institutions. She added the active role of Cuban women in peace building.
