At the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX), the ceremony was held to welcome the thirteenth shipment of humanitarian aid from Mexico, accompanied on this occasion by donations from the member countries of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
The event was chaired by Lázaro Artola Madrazo, Deputy Minister for Latin America at MINCEX; William Díaz Menéndez, Director General of International Cooperation at MINCEX; Rafael Dausa, Acting Director General for Latin America at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba; His Excellency Miguel Díaz Reynoso, Ambassador of the United Mexican States to Cuba; Mr. Halim Majeed, Ambassador of Guyana to Cuba; as well as members of the diplomatic corps of CARICOM countries, representatives of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), and MINCEX officials.
During the ceremony, the Director General of International Cooperation at MINCEX expressed gratitude for the constant support of the people and government of Mexico, as well as the valuable contribution of CARICOM member states to the Cuban people, in a context marked by the intensification of the economic blockade, which restricts access to food, medicines, and fuel.
The Ambassador of Mexico, Miguel Díaz Reynoso, emphasized: “We gather to formally deliver solidarity aid. This year we have witnessed and also experienced, alongside the Cuban people, the illegal and condemnable punishment of the tightening of the energy blockade. That is why today we once again say to Cuba: Cuba is not alone.”
For his part, the Ambassador of Guyana to Cuba, Halim Majeed, representing CARICOM, stated: “We must continue and repeat these acts of solidarity, no matter how small. Time and again we will do what we can to support Cuba in these difficult times. Cuba is not alone.”
This new shipment represents a concrete expression of solidarity and brotherhood, reaffirming the historic bonds of cooperation between Cuba, Mexico, and the CARICOM countries.
