Cuba reiterated at the UN its condemnation of genocide against the Palestinian people and United States’ power politics which causes global instability and attacks on sovereign nations.

New York, February 3, 2026 – Cuba’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, condemned in the strongest terms the genocide perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinian people and the political, financial, military, and diplomatic complicity of the United States, during his statement at the meeting of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.

The Cuban diplomat expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in his election as Vice-Chair of the Committee and reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to continue advancing the just cause of the Palestinian people in the framework of the United Nations system.

Cuba deplored that the start of the Committee’s new working year is marked by Israel’s ongoing violations of the ceasefire with impunity, the deliberate denial of essential services, and military incursions by the occupying Power in the northern West Bank. Cuba also condemned the attacks on UNRWA facilities and personnel, which obstruct vital humanitarian assistance to millions of Palestine refugees, including under extreme weather conditions.

Ambassador Soberón warned of the systematic destruction of hospitals, schools, and residences, as well as the deliberate shortage of water, food, medicines, and energy—practices that perpetuate the collective punishment of Palestinians and have led to the forced displacement of entire families, in disregard of their right to live in their own land.

Cuba reiterated that it is indispensable to put an end to over seven decades of attacks, occupation, abuse and exclusion, and demanded the immediate cease of Israel's all illegal colonization policies and practices in the Palestinian territories, including its apartheid system. The Ambassador highlighted that the Israeli government is responsible for the genocide against the Palestinian people, and has enjoyed the complicity and political, financial, military and diplomatic support of the United States.

Cuba’s Permanent Representative condemned that the US doctrine of 'peace through force' has resulted in profound instability in the Middle East and the rest of the world, and decried the aggressive escalation against Cuba and other sovereign nations, as an expression of the hegemony, coercion and blackmail.

Finally Cuba reaffirmed that true peace can only be achieved on the basis of respect for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, to an independent and sovereign state. Ambassador Soberón reiterated his support for a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict based on the two-state solution within the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital and the right of return for refugees guaranteed, and highlighted the significance of Palestine's immediate admission as a full member of the United Nations.

For Cuba, defending the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people is a matter of principle and a cause that will always have its unwavering solidarity.
