Cuba reiterates appeal to a negotiated, just and final solution to the question of the Malvinas.

New York, June 20th, 2023.- Cuba reiterated at the United Nations the appeal for a negotiated, just and final solution to the question of the Malvinas, as soon as possible, that guarantees the respect to the territorial sovereingty of Argentina.

During the meeting on the question of the Malvinas of the United Nations Special Committee on Decolonization, Ambassador Yuri Gala Lopez, Chargé d´Affaires a.i of the Permanent Mission of Cuba, referred that since the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of resolution 2065 (XX), six decades ago, the question of the Malvinas is an issue that the international community has granted importance and permanent attention. 

The Cuban diplomat recalled the support to the legitimate rights of Argentina in the dispute for sovereignty, has been reiterated at the highest level in different regional international fora, including the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). 

"Other organizations like ALADI, OLADE, SICA and ALBA, as well as the Ibero American Summits, have demanded the resumption of negotiations, as soon as possible, to find a pacific solution to the dispute", he added. 

Gala López reaffirmed, likewise, the unrestricted support of the Greater of the Antilles to the legitimate right of the Argentine in the sovereignty dispute in relation to the Mailvinas Islands, South Sandwich, South Georgias and the surrounding maritime areas which are part of the national territory of that Latin American sister nation.
