Cuba reiterates its condemnation before the United Nations of the genocide in the Gaza Strip and rejects external interference in the Middle East region

During the discussion of the agenda items of the United Nations General Assembly Plenary on the question of Palestine and the situation in the Middle East, the Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, reiterated the deep concern of the Largest in the Antilles over the violence unleashed for 14 months by the Israeli government, the occupying power, against the Palestinian population.

At the same time, the Cuban diplomat reiterated his condemnation against the genocide perpetrated by Israel, which is materialized in the continuous assassinations in the Gaza Strip, especially of women and children, as well as of humanitarian workers of the United Nations system.

Soberón Guzmán also called for an immediate ceasefire, the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and for the Security Council to exercise its responsibility under the UN Charter for the maintenance of international peace and security, by putting an immediate end to the occupation of the Palestinian territories and to Israel's aggressive policies and colonizing practices.

Soberón Guzmán reiterated Cubas full support for Palestine's admission as a full member of the United Nations and reaffirmed Cubas full support for a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the conflict, based on the creation of two states, allowing the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and to have an independent and sovereign state on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the right of return of refugees.

The Cuban diplomat also spoke out against the illegal Israeli military occupation of the Syrian Golan for more than 50 years, which continues despite the persistent demand of the international community to end the imposition of Israeli laws, jurisdiction and administration on that territory.

At the same time, the Ambassador pointed out that the continued air strikes perpetrated by the Israeli army on residential areas in Beirut and Damascus, including in places very close to the diplomatic headquarters of international organizations and countries, including those of Cuba, is unacceptable.

"We once again demand the cessation of aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the sister nations of the Middle East. External interference in the region must stop," he said.

The Permanent Representative of Cuba said that every minute of impunity, passivity, and silence costs more innocent lives.
