Cuba Reiterates Its Firm Support for Palestine at the UN Consultations on the Two-State Solution and the Peaceful Settlement of the Conflict

This Wednesday, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the Consultations of the Member States of the United Nations on the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution were held.

Ambassador Daylenis Moreno Guerra, Deputy Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, expressed Cuba's firm commitment to the cause of the Palestinian people and the urgent need to reach a just, lasting and definitive solution to the conflict.

In her speech, the Cuban diplomat reiterated that such a solution must be based on respect for the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, as well as on the creation of an independent and sovereign State within the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and respect for the right of return of refugees.

He denounced that after more than 75 years, it is inexplicable that Palestine is still not admitted as a full member of the United Nations, despite the existence of a resolution providing for the creation of two States. In this regard, he stressed that the full admission of Palestine to the United Nations is an essential step towards a lasting peace.

She also called on the international community to turn the upcoming conference into an effective platform to demand an immediate end to the illegal Israeli occupation, a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the condemnation of plans to forcibly transfer the Palestinian people, and the unhindered access for humanitarian aid.

The Ambassador questioned the international silence in the face of Israel's grave violations of international law, as well as the political, military and financial support provided by the United States to the occupying state, which she said violates multilateralism and the United Nations Charter.

"It is time to end decades of injustice. The best way to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations is to do justice and put a definitive end to the genocide and aggression against Palestine," he concluded.
