New York, November 7th, 2023.- Cuba participated, on Monday, in the debate of the Special Political and Decolonization Commission of the United Nations General Assembly, on "Israeli Practices that Affect the Human Rights of the Palestinian People and other Arab Inhabitants of the Occupied Territories."
During her speech, Counselor Yumirka Fernández Palacios reiterated Cuba's deep concern about the convulsive situation in the Middle East region, in which the occupation of the Palestinian territory continues.
Fernández Palacios said that the system of domination of the Palestinian people by Israel, the exploitation and appropriation of its resources, as well as the exponential denial of all the rights of the population, constitutes a true system of apartheid against that people.
The Cuban diplomat also regretted that the Security Council has not been able to reach an agreement that definitively puts an end to Israel's aggressions and colonizing practices against the Palestinian and Syrian peoples of the occupied Golan.
"Cuba will continue to advocate Israel's total and unconditional withdrawal from the Syrian Golan and all occupied Arab territories, while urging constructive and respectful dialogue among the peoples of the region," she said.
Before concluding her reakrs, Fernández Palacios warned that, at such a difficult time for the Palestinian people, every minute of silence, inactivity, ignorance and double standards will bring with it the loss of innocent lives.
