Geneva, Jul 3, 2020.- Cuba on Friday maintains its 'Zero Tolerance' policy for any form of human trafficking, Jairo Rodriguez, Cuban diplomat, said.
During an interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur of the United Nations Organization (UN) Maria Grazia Giammarinaro, Jairo Rodriguez said that Cuba continues implementing the Action Plan against this phenomenon (2017-2020), "a pivotal tool of the State and civil society to guarantee the prevention and confrontation of this crime, as well as the protection of the victims"
In the framework of the 44th Session of the UN Human Rights Council, the Cuban representative noted that in 2019, 15 cases were tried on Cuba for human trafficking-related crimes, 12 of them were related to sexual exploitation, two to forced begging and one to slavery.
As part of the actions carried out by the Cuban authorities, 25 victims were identified: 10 women, eight girls, a boy and six men, he said.
