NASSAU, October 16th, 2017.-The Grand Prix of the International Cultural Festival of The Bahamas, held in Nassau on 14th and 15th October, was once again awarded to Cuba, only a few days before the celebration of the Cuban National Culture Day.
Besides, the Cuban artists Silvia Irene Blanco and Iracema Arias were awarded individually with the prizes within the Caribbean region for their guaracheras made out of paper and the sample of papier maché, respectively.
On this occasion, the Cuban Booth showed the jury and attendees to the event, a tour through thedifferent provinces of the island and the main features of each region.
During his visit to the Cuban area, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bahamas, Hon. Darren Henfield, highlighted the richness of the Cuban culture and referred to the excellent cultural ties between the two nations.
As every year, Cuban artists and artisans traveled from Cuba to show the most authentic of the Cuban culture, along with the Cuban resident community and Cuban companies based in the Bahamian capital.
A distinctive element at this Festival was the presence of Cuban percussionist Eduardo Cordova Reyes, who delighted everyone with his drumming.
As in previous editions, young Cubans interpreted Cuban rhythms and costumes, attracting the audience.
