Cuba shines at international cultures festival at Istanbul university

As part of a multicultural fair that brought together student delegations from around the world, the community of Cuban scholarship students in Türkiye delivered an outstanding presentation of the island’s identity and traditions on a university campus in Istanbul. The exhibition was supported by the Consulate General of Cuba in the city, which provided key elements of the nation’s cultural heritage for the display.

Although the event featured dozens of countries from different continents, the Latin American representation stood out for its energy, color, and unity. Cuba shared the regional space with sister nations such as Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Argentina, Jamaica, Costa Rica, and Brazil, bringing to the public the characteristic joy of Latin America through music, dance, and cultural exchange.

The Cuban delegation offered an experience that showcased the history, aromas, and traditions of the island. Beneath the flag of the lone star, visitors were able to appreciate Cuban perfumes and cosmetics, national banknotes and coins, as well as the unmistakable aroma of Cuban coffee, whose tradition and preparation methods attracted great interest among attendees.

The undeniable highlight of the event was Cuban tobacco. The history, prestige, and tradition surrounding this national symbol fascinated students and professors from many different countries, making it one of the most admired and talked-about attractions of the entire fair.

Beyond the products on display, the Cuban presence was marked by warmth, solidarity, and cultural exchange. Historical figures such as Ernesto “Che” Guevara sparked interest and admiration among young people from various nations, encouraging conversations about Cuba’s history and contemporary reality.

Music, joy, and a spirit of solidarity defined the Cuban participation throughout the day, leaving a very positive impression on both the Turkish and international public. The event not only highlighted the cultural richness of the island, but also strengthened bonds of friendship and mutual understanding among peoples.

Through this participation, the Cuban students and the Consulate General of Cuba in Istanbul continue strengthening the Caribbean nation’s cultural presence within Türkiye’s academic and social spheres, promoting mutual understanding and fraternity between both nations.
