During the XXV International Food Fair and the XIII International Agricultural Exhibition of Azerbaijan held at the Baku Exhibition Center, the Cuban ambassador in this nation, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, held different meetings with Azeri companies present at this event to revitalize the commercial ties between both nations in this sphere.
On the opening day, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, toured and shared with exhibitors in the three pavilions that show the achievements and products of 451 companies from 33 countries.
For his part, the Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, Inam Karimov, stressed that the main task of this industry is to ensure the food security of the country and the successes achieved are due to the fusion of traditional methodology, innovations, foreign experience and the original projects of new companies.
The Cuban ambassador in his talks with Azeri leaders stressed that between Azerbaijan and Cuba there are coinciding development objectives such as: increasing agricultural production to meet domestic demand and increase their exports.
He also stressed that the Cuban government has recently approved new policies and decisions that support the Island's agricultural sector and stimulate, as Azerbaijan does, agroecological practices in order to preserve the environment.
The Cuban diplomat also coordinated the holding of meetings that will promote the quarry of foreign investment opportunities in the agricultural sector of Cuba.
The XXV International Food Fair and the XIII International Agricultural Exhibition of Azerbaijan are the largest events held in Baku and were organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AQTA), the United Nations Organization for Agriculture and Food (FAO) and the Development Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises of this Caucasian nation (KOBIA), among others.
