Cuba Solidarity Campaign in Ghana condemns the inclusion of the island on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

Accra, August 1, 2024. - The Cuba Solidarity Campaign in Ghana supported the Cuban people and government in a statement issued on August 1, 2024. The document condemns the Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba, and notifies that the Campaign joins the worldwide call for the removal of Cuba from the State Sponsors of Terrorism (SST) list, issued annually by the United States Department of State.

The statement, signed by Naa Ayeley Adarfio, Coordinator of the Cuba Solidarity Campaign in Ghana, and Head of Communications of the Ghana Trade Union Congress, TUC, recognises the difficulties that the largest of the Antilles is going through because of the unilateral and lacerating policies of the USA and invites that government to immediately and unconditionally remove Cuba from the SSTL. The letter mentions that it is unthinkable that this power should portray itself as a defender of human rights when it has kept a small nation under siege for more than six decades.

Likewise, the statement becomes a request to the international community to maintain the course of support for what is just and to persevere in order to guarantee that the rights of the Cuban people are respected.
