Geneva, June 16, 2025. Ambassador Rodolfo Benítez Verson, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the UN in Geneva, held a fraternal meeting with Ms. Pamela Coke-Hamilton, Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC), at the organization's headquarters in Geneva.
During the exchange, the Cuban representative recognized the important work of the Centre, which acts as a development agency of the UN and the World Trade Organization, supporting trade for small and medium-sized enterprises in developing countries.
He also highlighted Cuba's interest in continuing to strengthen relations with the Center in order to increase the country's export capacity in various sectors and promote the training and development of human resources in areas such as the digital economy, agribusiness, and smart agriculture adapted to climate change.
The ICC Executive Director emphasized the interest in advancing cooperation programs with Cuba in line with the country's priorities. She also alluded to the damaging impact of the US economic, commercial, and financial blockade on the Cuban economy.
Both parties agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in the coming months that will contribute to these objectives and allow for the coordination of ICC's participation in the new United Nations-Cuba Cooperation Framework for the period 2026-2030.
