Cuba takes part in the Congress of the International Union for Conservation of Nature 2025

The International Union for Conservation of Nature 2025 Congress began today, Thursday, October 9, in Abu Dhabi. Cuba is represented by Liliana Núñez Velis, president of the Antonio Nuñez Jiménez Foundation for Nature and Man, and Reinaldo Estrada, director of the Protected Areas and Expeditions Program.

These will be intense days of exchange, learning, and demonstrations of conservation work. This Thursday afternoon, strengthening the Caribbean Subregion within IUCN Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, Cuban representatives will have the great opportunity to speak out for their work as "Managers and Defenders of the Oceans" in the Pavilion of the Americas, alongside experts from Honduras, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.

The Congress is a magnificent opportunity to showcase Cuba's rigorous and high-quality conservation work, as well as to delve into the progress of the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency and its governing body, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the United Arab Emirates.

Cuba and the UAE have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at promoting climate and environmental action.
