The Hague, 3 May 2018. The Permanent Representation of Cuba to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) took part in the 2018 edition of the “Review and evaluation workshop of the components of an agreed framework for the full implementation of Article XI of the Chemical Weapons Convention,” which focuses on the Economic and technology development of the States Parties in this crucial Convention for the Prohibition or Chemical Weapons.
The opening remarks of the workshop were delivered by the Director General of the OPCW His Excellency Mr. Ahmet Uzümcü and the current President of the Executive Council and Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh His Excellency Mr. Sheikh Mohammed Belal.
The workshop was the space to discuss about crucial topics related to the full, effective, non-discriminatory implementation of Article XI of the Convention such as: integrated management of chemistry, capacity building in the laboratories and the promotion of Chemistry knowledge, aspects that have an impact on the Economic and technology development of the States.
The Permanent Representative of Cuba to the OPCW, Soraya Alvarez, took this opportunity to promote the 33rd Latin American Congress of Chemistry and the 10th Congress of Chemical Sciences, Technology and Innovation, QUIMICUBA 2018, which will be held in Cuba from October 9-12, organized by the Cuban Society of Chemistry (SCQ) and the Latin American Federation of Chemistry Associations (FLAQ).
