End the blockade, no to U.S. intervention!
While the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US on the Cuban people for more than 60 years continues in all its harshness, in the last few days we have witnessed once again what this policy really intends.
According to the US, the objective of this policy is to impose sanctions on the Cuban government for its disregard for human rights and democracy in Cuba, and to reach out to the Cuban people for the establishment of a democratic order in this country that respects human rights. They expect us to believe that the objective is to defend the interests of the Cuban people.
But the objective of the blockade is to plunge the Cuban people into misery.
We know this from the explicit statements made in official U.S. documents; we know this from the more than 30 United Nations resolutions that have declared that the blockade constitutes a "crime of genocide" against the Cuban people; we know this from the energy shortages that have almost paralyzed the economy and undermined the well-being of the entire population; we know this from the shortages in medical care, which in some cases have even caused loss of life; we know this from the problems in the food supply that have left the Cuban people with the worry of hunger.
The aim is to plunge the Cuban people into misery, to provoke an uprising against the revolution that has put an end to exploitative relations in the country and to create the conditions for the U.S. capitalist class to reestablish its economic and political interests in this island country.....
It is precisely the manifestation of this strategy that we have clearly witnessed again in the last few days. The fact that some Cuban citizens took to the streets in the eastern provinces of the country to call attention to the problems was immediately exploited by the opportunistic U.S. government. Through the U.S. diplomatic mission in Havana, Miami-based anti-revolutionary groups, media monopolies and mercenary social networks, a simultaneous campaign of attacks against the Cuban government was launched. There were false insinuations of violence by the Cuban government and hypocritical calls for respect for the human rights of Cubans.
Of course, U.S. imperialism was once again disappointed. The prudence shown by the Cuban people and government was admirable, the capacity to debate with a sense of unity, at this moment which is one of the most difficult in the history of the Cuban revolution.
It was declared once again that Cuba belongs to the Cubans.
We, as the Cuba-Turkey Friendship Association "José Martí", once again condemn the inhuman policies of the US, reiterate our call for the unconditional lifting of the blockade, which is a crime of genocide against the brotherly Cuban people, and declare our unshakable conviction that the Cuban people will emerge from this difficult period in unity and solidarity, as they have always done.
Down with the U.S. blockade!
Long live socialist Cuba!
Long live solidarity with Cuba!
Cuba-Türkiye Friendship Association "José Martí".
