The Cuba-Türkiye Friendship Association "José Martí" and the Cuban Embassy pay tribute to the Cuban apostle on the occasion of the 129th anniversary of his fall in combat for the freedom of Cuba.
In an emotional ceremony held at the Nazim Hikmet Cultural Center, the life, work and thought of the National Hero José Martí were evoked.
His premature death meant a hard blow for the revolution that had begun on February 24, 1895, but his personal qualities and emancipatory legacy transcended in Cuba's struggles for its definitive independence.
At the ceremony the Cuban ambassador Dr. Alejandro Díaz Palacios presented the "Friendship" Medal to the Cuba-Türkiye "José Martí" Friendship Association and condemned the blockade and demanded that the U.S. remove Cuba, once and for all, from the List of States that allegedly sponsor terrorism.
