The Cuba-Türkiye José Martí Solidarity Association Demands an End to the U.S. Blockade.

The Cuba-Türkiye José Martí Solidarity Association issued a statement ahead of the upcoming vote on the blockade against Cuba at the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled for October 27–28. The statement denounces the consequences of the U.S. blockade and calls on the public, particularly intellectuals, artists, academics, and journalists, to express their solidarity with the Cuban people and demand an end to the blockade.

LET US SHOW THAT THE CUBAN PEOPLE ARE NOT ALONE BEFORE THE UN BLOCKADE VOTE!

The Cuba-Türkiye José Martí Solidarity Association calls on everyone to express solidarity with the Cuban people ahead of the vote on the U.S. blockade at the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled for October 27–28.

Cuba is preparing to bring the devastating consequences of the inhumane siege imposed by U.S. imperialism to the attention of world public opinion. The report on the blockade, which the Cuban government will submit to a vote at the UN General Assembly, will expose the full extent of what the statement describes as the crime of genocide committed by the United States against the Cuban people, while once again highlighting the heroic nature of the Cuban people's dignified resistance.

The economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for more than six decades has reached unprecedented levels with the executive orders implemented by the Trump administration since January this year. Through its energy blockade, the United States has inflicted severe damage on the island's tourism infrastructure, flights to Cuba have been suspended, and hotel chains have been pressured to leave the country.

Bringing the tourism sector—one of Cuba's most important sources of income—to a standstill has dealt a heavy blow to the resources needed to invest in other essential sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, and industry.

Nevertheless, the Cuban people continue to face extraordinary daily hardships with remarkable organization and solidarity. From electricity blackouts lasting up to twenty hours a day to difficulties accessing clean drinking water, food supplies, healthcare services, and transportation, the Cuban people continue to confront these challenges with resilience and collective determination.

The Cuban patriots' determination to defend their independence, which they consider “priceless,” continues to challenge the arrogance of imperialism every day.

The vote on the blockade at the United Nations General Assembly on October 27–28 is of historic importance in confronting what the statement describes as the longest-running crime of genocide in history and in expressing solidarity with the Cuban people, who continue to resist with dignity.

Strengthening the call for justice that Cuba will raise from the UN podium will mean declaring that humanity cannot be brought to its knees.

We call on all conscientious citizens of our country, especially intellectuals, artists, academics, and journalists, to raise their voices against the blockade ahead of the UN vote and to share messages of solidarity with Cuba as widely and powerfully as possible.

Cuba is not the threat to humanity—the imperialist blockade is!

End the blockade immediately!

Cuba is not alone!

Hasta la victoria, siempre! — Until victory, always!
