CUBA: WFTU greetings to the VIII Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba
Dear comrades, dear comrades:
It is a great pleasure to be able to offer you our warmest and most cordial internationalist greetings for the celebration of the VIII Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba. All the forces of the WFTU, its 105 million affiliates in 133 countries of the world, bow before the achievements of the socialist Cuban Revolution and your workers' state. Furthermore, we take the opportunity to wish you every success in the works of the Congress.
The ties of solidarity and fraternity between our entity and the Cuban trade union movement are lasting and are born in parallel with the birth of our great class union family in 1945, going through the triumph of your Revolution, until the counterrevolutionary overthrows in the countries of Europe. of the East of 1989-1991 and the struggle to keep the WFTU alive and active. The militants of the WFTU will never forget the arduous solidarity and internationalist work of the militants of the Party and the CTC, who, in the Congress of Damascus in 1994, together with class activists from all over the planet, defended the very existence and the class characteristics of the FSM. Likewise, the contribution of the Cuban militants in the course of strengthening the WFTU, initiated by the Havana Congress in 2005 until today, will never be forgotten. Communists and Cuban militants have been and continue to be an integral part of the effort of the WFTU for the revitalization and empowerment of the classist union forces throughout the world.
Especially at this juncture, in which international capitalism intensifies its offensive against the working class and the new capitalist crisis aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic has deteriorated the lives of workers in capitalist states, the class spirit of the Communist Party Cuba and the ideological counterattack of our class are more necessary than ever.
In this sense, the WFTU reiterates its commitment to the Cuban people and communists as well as to its glorious affiliate, the CTC of Cuba. We will continue fighting for all the demands of your people, for the immediate lifting of the criminal imperialist blockade, for the return of the Guantanamo territory to Cuba, for the defense of the Cuban Revolution. We were inspired by your fight against the pandemic and we fought for the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to the International Health Contingent “Henry Reeve”.
Dear comrades, in the WFTU you can find a friend and a comrade in struggle. Once again, we wish you every success in your Congress.
