Cuba will require a digital form from 23 January for all arrivals to Cuba.

Havana, January 12, 2023 (taken from Cubadebate) As of January 23, those arriving in the country must fill out the D'Viajeros digital form as a valid sworn statement to be presented to the airline and border authorities.

Representatives of Cuban aviation, the General Customs of the Republic and the ministries of Public Health and Tourism announced Thursday at a press conference that, after the results demonstrated in the test phase, it was decided to officialise the use of the platform through Resolution 320 of the Ministry of Transport, published today in the Official Gazette and which will come into force on 23 January.

Rita María García González, director of Air Transport and International Relations of the Institute of Civil Aeronautics of Cuba (IACC), said that since 15 November 2021 the form has been available online on the website https://www.dviajeros.mitrans.gob.cu. in Spanish, English, French, Russian, Italian and German.

He explained that the traveller must complete it a maximum of 48 hours before checking in for the flight to Cuba and obtains as a result a QR code, which must be presented in digital or printed format to the airline's representative.

García González insisted on the duty to truthfully declare the requested information and affirmed that it is up to the IACC to notify the airlines about the implementation of the provision and for them to make their clients comply with this requirement.

Manuel García Benítez, director of technology at Corporación de la Aviación Cubana S.A., said that from 15 November 2021 to date, more than four million visits have been made to the website and more than 1,700,000 travellers have arrived with their forms.

He pointed out that the airport and Etecsa entities at the national level have worked on the preparation of technological infrastructures to guarantee the technical conditions at international airports for the processing of data and the vitality of operations.

When talking to the press, the specialists agreed that this is a dynamic platform that facilitates and improves the experience of travellers in their transit through immigration, customs and public health services, contributes to border health control, reduces the exchange of documents with the authorities and speeds up procedures in the different air terminals by offering advanced information.
