Cuban ambassador attends celebration of Africa Day

Cuban ambassador to Zimbabwe, Elio Savón, attended yesterday May 25 a central activity held in Harare in commemoration of the Day of Africa.

The event, hosted jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the African diplomatic corps, recalled the creation in 1963 of the Organization of African Unity, which in 2002 changed its name to that of the African Union.

The function was chaired by Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Honorable Sydney Sekeramayi, who delivered the keynote address, and was attended by several ministers, parliamentarians and other senior officials from Zimbabwe

During the celebration the dean of the diplomatic corps and ambassador of DRC Mr. Mwampanga Mwana Nanga recalled that Zimbabwe is one of the six African countries that adopted the 25 of May as a national holiday.
