Cuban Ambassador attends the launch of Ho Chi Minh's book "Prison Diary" in Urdu in Pakistan

Islamabad, August 18, 2026. The Pakistan Academy of Letters was the venue for the launch of the Urdu translation of the book "Prison Diary," a poetic work by Ho Chi Minh, national hero and founding father of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The Ambassador of Cuba, Damián Cordero, attended the presentation ceremony alongside other ambassadors from Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, invited by the Vietnamese Embassy in this capital.

The event featured speeches by several speakers, most notably the President of the Academy of Letters, Dr. Najiba Arif, who paid a well-deserved tribute to the Vietnamese leader's human quality. She noted that his poems, written under the difficult conditions of imprisonment, consistently reflected hope, courage, the determination never to surrender, and faith in victory.

For his part, the Ambassador of sisterly Vietnam, His Excellency Phan Anh Tuan, thanked those present and highlighted the importance of this work as part of the cultural and literary cooperation between both countries.
