THE BAHAMAS, 18th August, 2016.- Yesterday, the Ambassador of Cuba to The Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, bid farewell to the five Bahamians students who will go to Cuba to make their college careers in Medicine and Health Technology.
During the ceremony, the students signed the Code of Ethics, as a commitment to observe the discipline that is reflected in that document. Similarly, they appreciated the opportunity that the government of Cuba offers to the students of different nationalities.
For her part, the Ambassador spoke about the importance of giving the best of them in the course of their careers and the possibility that they will have to exchange with students from different countries, which will give them a world view completely different from that they have now.
In her words to the press, the Cuban diplomat took the opportunity to condemn once again the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba. She explained how despite the blockade our country remains committed to continue offering scholarships to young people from different countries that lack the resources to pay for college.
On this occasion, were also present Bahamians students who are currently in our country, graduates in Cuba, leading members of the solidarity group, relatives of the five selected students, teachers, a representation of the Cuban mission and the President of the Association of Cuban Residents in The Bahamas, Horacio Herrera Pelayo.
Benefited with the scholarship program that Cuba offers to dissimilar countries around the world as a gesture of solidarity with friendly nations, many Bahamians students have graduated from the university in different careers in the last decades.
