The Ambassador of Cuba, Pedro Luis Despaigne González, paid a visit to the city of Ho, capital of Volta Region, where he checked the state of the Cuban health collaboration in that region of the Ghanaian geography.
During two days, the Cuban Ambassador developed a program of work that included meeting Dr. John Tampouri, Medical Director of Volta Regional Hospital, meetings with the two members of the Cuban Medical Brigade that work at Ho, and encounters with the Cuban community that lives there, as well as with Ghanaian trained in Cuba.
In the meeting held on 8th April at the Volta Regional Hospital, its Medical Director, welcomed the visitors and showed the challenges of the institution in the objective to improve its services. He especially thanked to Cuba by training Ghanaian as doctors and for the historical support of the Ghana Health Sector. He also signaled that some members of his medical team studied in Cuba with excellent training.
The Cuban diplomat ratifies the commitment with Ghana, and explained that the visit is part of the process to check on site the Cuban doctor´s living and working conditions.
The Cuban Ambassador was accompanied by some members of the Embassy Staff, and by the head of the Cuban Medical Mission in Ghana, Dr. Ana Lubín García.
