Cuban ambassador concludes a successful working visit to Oman

Riyadh, June 30th – Ambassador Vladimir Gonzalez made his annual visit to Oman from June 24th to 29th, in the framework of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the Sultanate. The main propose of this visit was to hold meetings with several local authorities, to review bilateral ties and their perspectives.

In this regard, the Cuban diplomat met with Mohammed Mirza Al-Balushi, counselor at the Americas Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, taking advantage of this opportunity to review the different pending bilateral issues and the ways to achieve their fulfillment.

Likewise, the Ambassador was received by the Minister of Health, Dr. Hilal bin Ali bin Hilal Al-Sabti, and he conveyed the greetings of his Cuban counterpart and expressed the willingness of the Cuban authorities to develop cooperation relations in the field of health, medical sciences and the medical-pharmaceutical industry, based on the successful experience of training Omani doctors in Cuba in the past.

The Cuban head of mission was also welcomed by the Ambassador-at-large at the Omani Foreign Ministry, Sheikh Abdulaziz Abdullah Zaher Al-Hinai, with whom he reviewed the recent developments in the bilateral sphere and thanked him for Oman's traditional support to the resolution Cuba presents to the United Nations General Assembly, to demand the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States for more than 60 years.

Finally, the Ambassador held a meeting with the president of the Oman Investment Authority, Abdul Salam bin Mohammed Al-Murshidi, who paid an official visit to Havana in March 2024 to explore the possibilities of promoting economic and commercial, cooperation and investment relations. On that occasion, Al-Murshidi was received by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel.

This visit to Muscat was also an opportunity to contact the small Cuban community residing in the Sultanate, assist them with the required consular services and also to clarify their doubts regarding the draft laws on emigration and expatriates that will be summited in due course to the National Assembly of People's Power.
