Cuban Ambassador congratulates President Erdogan for Day of the Republic of Turkey.

Ankara, October 29, 2019. Cuba's Ambassador to Turkey, Luis Alberto Amorós Núñez, personally congratulated President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the official ceremony for the 96th anniversary of the Foundation of the Republic of Turkey that was held in the palace of government.

On October 29, 1923, the Republic of Turkey was officially proclaimed, with Ankara as its new capital. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the father of the Turkish homeland and leader of his war of independence against the foreign occupation resulting from the fall of the Ottoman Empire, made this proclamation.

Since then, Turkey celebrates Republic Day every October 29.
