Cuban Ambassador in Copenhagen visits UNICEF Supply Division

On May 29, the ambassador of Cuba in Denmark Yiliam Gómez visited the the Supply Division of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), which is headquartered in Copenhagen. The Cuban diplomat was received by the Director of the Division, Dr. Etleva Kadilli, accompanied by other officials of that entity. Dr. Kadilli, who recently visited the Finlay Institute of Vaccines in Cuba, appreciated the development achieved by the Caribbean country in the research and production of vaccines.

The Cuban ambassador highlighted the achievements made in the biotechnology sector in her country, which are the result of a sustained and responsible work in the area of ​​research and development. She also said that despite the blockade, the Cuban biotechnology industry continues to develop, while international collaboration is expanding and arising challenges are faced.

Representatives from UNICEF office in Cuba also participated in the meeting, who shared their experiences of cooperation with the Cuban government in the field, and made reference in particular to UNICEF contribution to the recovery process from Hurricane Irma that hit the Island last September.

UNICEF Supply Division supports the Fund’s programs for child development around the world through the procurement and supply of essential products such as vaccines, medicines, to address the needs of boys and girls.
