Cuban Ambassador: Cuban First Deputy Foreign Minister to visit Cambodia today

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba  Gerardo Peñalver Portal will pay an official visit to Cambodia this week, said  Ms. Liurka Rodriguez Barrios, Ambassador of Cuba to Cambodia.

Ms. Rodriguez Barrios said the most important objective of his visit to Cambodia is to arrange the exchange of high-level visit between the two countries and take the opportunity to continue discussing the plan to increase the relationship between Cuba and Cambodia.

According to the schedule, the Cuban first deputy foreign minister will pay courtesy visits to Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia; and Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

He is also scheduled to meet with Prof. Mam Bunheng, Minister of Health and Khieu Kanharith, Minister of Information, and hold political consultations with Ouch Borith, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Standing Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Gerardo Peñalver Portal is on a tour to three Southeast Asian nations – Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos – from Aug. 28 to Sept. 7, 2022 to review the cooperation with the three countries.

Cambodia and Cuba established their diplomatic relations on April 15, 1960. Since then, the two countries have maintained normal ties in different areas, especially in education and health.
