Cuban Ambassador delivers message of solidarity in celebration of African Liberation Day.

Accra, 24 May, 2025. - At the invitation of the All-African People's Revolutionary Party (A-APRP), the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, H.E. Mr. Julio E. Pujol Torres participated in an event on the occassion of the African Liberation Day (ALD) celebrated at the W.E.B. DuBois Centre for Pan-African Culture. This year's  theme was: “Africa for Africans: Revolutionary Pan-Africanist Unity Across Borders in the Battle for Socialism against Imperialism”.

The diplomat made a solidarity statement in which he condemned slavery and the transatlantic slave trade, describing it as the most atrocious crime against humanity and recognising the duty of the international community to repair this outrage. He praised Cuba's historical relations of brotherhood and solidarity with its African brothers and sisters and the cooperation that the Greater Antilles has provided to its peoples despite the constant and now unprecedented intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade by the United States.

For his part, the Second Secretary, Yamil Eduardo Martínez Marrero, in the debate on the role of African women in a possible socialist context, commented on the achievements Cuba has made in this regard and the support that from the legal system and the society in itself has been given not only to women, but also to children, the elderly and the most vulnerable sectors of the Cuban society.

The event was an opportunity to acknowledge what Cuba has done and to thank it for its position on Africa.
