Accra, 25/02/2025. - The Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Mr. Julio Enrique Pujol Torres attended the traditional commemoration of the “Day of Shame”, last February 24.
Dr. Li Bo, Director General of the Guancha Union and Professor of the Chinese Tricontinental Institute of Social Research, was also invited to the commemoration. He delivered a lecture entitled “Africa and China: In the Effort to Construct a New World - The Perspective of Mao and Nkrumah”, in which he addressed the history of relations between the two continents and stressed the importance of South-South cooperation in the fight against imperialism and underdevelopment.
Dr. Li Bo's lecture was part of a series of activities organized by the Socialist Movement of Ghana (SMG) and other Pan-Africanist groups to remember the 1966 coup d'état that overthrew President Kwame Nkrumah. Also present at the event were the ambassadors of Palestine and Algeria.
Ghanaian journalist and friend of Cuba Kwesi Pratt Jr. highlighted the international solidarity around the historical memory of Ghana and the historical position of the U.S. government against progressive governments that defy its designs.
