Cairo, May 3, 2026. Cuban Ambassador Alexander Pellicer Moraga held a fruitful meeting with leaders of the Palestinian Women’s Federation at the organization’s headquarters in the capital.
During the meeting, they discussed the historic ties of brotherhood between Cuba and Palestine and the genocidal policies currently being imposed against our countries.
The Cuban diplomat addressed the difficult situation facing Cuba due to the intensification of the blockade and the oil embargo imposed by the Trump administration, which is causing prolonged power outages and the paralysis of the economy and basic services for the population, such as medical care, transportation, and food production.
The Cuban Head of Mission emphasized that Cuba is a peaceful country and has always been willing to engage in dialogue based on the principle of respect for the sovereignty and independence of states, without impositions or threats. He also affirmed the Cuban people’s determination to defend their sovereignty and independence should they be attacked militarily by the United States.
For their part, the representatives of Palestinian women described the work they are doing to support Palestinian refugees in Egypt, particularly women and children. They also expressed their gratitude for Cuba’s unconditional support for the noble cause of the Palestinian people and its condemnation of Israel’s genocidal and expansionist policies, as well as for the scholarships offered to young Palestinians to study medicine in Cuba.
They also expressed their support and solidarity with Cuba in the face of the intensification of the blockade and threats from the U.S. government, conveyed warm greetings to the leaders of the Federation of Cuban Women, and reaffirmed their interest in maintaining collaborative relations between the two women’s organizations.
