Cairo, July 19, 2026. Cuba’s Ambassador to Egypt, Alexander Pellicer Moraga, participated on behalf of Cuba in the 2026 Conference on the Question of Jerusalem, titled “Jerusalem: The Front Line of Displacement and Annexation, and the Key to a Just and Lasting Peace.”
In his remarks during the discussions of Panel 2 on “Support for the Presence, Rights, and Sovereignty of Palestinians in Jerusalem,” the Cuban diplomat reaffirmed Cuba’s support for the noble cause of the Palestinian people in their struggle to achieve their inalienable rights, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign state within the pre-June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Pellicer Moraga stated that Cuba will continue to support a diplomatic solution to the conflict and condemned violence, especially that which affects innocent children, women, and the elderly. He also condemned in the strongest terms Israel’s expansionist policy, which manifests itself through the construction of new settlements in illegally occupied territories, the expulsion of Palestinians from their lands, the demolition of their homes, and the destruction of their farmland.
The Cuban representative concluded his remarks by demanding an end to the genocide against the Palestinian people.
The conference was organized by the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (Palestine Committee), in conjunction with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). UN member states and observers, United Nations agencies, intergovernmental organizations, and civil society organizations participated in the event. (Embacuba Egipto)
