Cairo, April 24, 2025. The Cuban ambassador to Egypt, Alexander Pellicer Moraga, signed this morning, at the nunciature headquarters in this capital, the book of condolences for the death of His Holiness Pope Francis.

In his message, the Cuban diplomat conveyed on behalf of the Cuban people and government the most heartfelt condolences to the Holy See and all Catholics around the world. He also highlighted Pope Francis' commitment to the poor and the most disadvantaged, as well as his struggle for social justice, and his commitment to peace and solidarity among human beings.

Pope Francis visited Cuba on two occasions, the first in September 2015, on an apostolic trip, when he held a symbolic meeting with the historic leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro. The second took place in February 2016 to hold a historic meeting with Patriarch Kirill I of the Russian Orthodox Church. (Embacuba Egipto)
