Cairo, December 4, 2025. The Cuban Ambassador to Egypt, Alexander Pellicer Moraga, visited the headquarters of the Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Organization (AAPSO) yesterday to discuss the strengthening of Afro-Asian-Latin American cooperation.
The Cuban ambassador was received by Mohamed El-Orabi, president of AAPSO, with whom he discussed mechanisms and actions to strengthen cooperation between the organization and Latin American countries, especially Cuba, in accordance with common objectives that promote the value of humanity and solidarity among peoples.
During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Orabi stated that the organization is experiencing a new beginning under the leadership of African and Asian figures who are working to formulate strategies that align with international changes. He noted that global economic developments and the repercussions of the trade war require the organization to resume its historic role of supporting developing countries and strengthening intercontinental cooperation.
He also emphasized the organization's willingness to expand its activities in Latin America in order to contribute to common goals and promote cultural, economic, and media exchanges between peoples.
Dr. Mohamed Ihsan, Secretary General of the organization, spoke about Cuba's historic role in the march of solidarity with the countries of Africa and Asia, praising its contribution to supporting liberation causes and humanitarian aid over decades.
During the meeting, Mr. Al-Arabi reviewed the history of the organization, its objectives, and the leading role it plays in promoting cooperation between the countries and peoples of the two continents, noting that the decision to establish the organization in 1957 opens the door for Latin American countries to join, paving the way for the development of the organization's structure to become the Afro-Asian-Latin American Peoples' Organization.
Ambassador Al-Orabi pointed out that Cuba could be a strategic gateway for communication with Latin American countries, and the Cuban ambassador undertook to provide the organization with the contact details of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), which would help to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the organization and the countries of the Latin American continent.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Al-Orabi agreed to organize a conference in support of Cuba, which will be coordinated by the Afro-Asian Media Union in cooperation with the organization, and with the participation of the Egypt-Cuba Friendship Association.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Nizar Al-Khaled, Vice President of the Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Organization and President of the Afro-Asian Media Union, and Dr. Zein Al-Sheikh, Vice President of the Tourism Media Affairs Union and Vice President of the Egypt-Cuba Friendship Association.
