Luxembourg, September 30, 2025. Cuban Ambassador Eva Yelina Silva Walker, as part of her visit to Luxembourg, held a meeting with Mr. David Wagner, member of the Luxembourg Parliament, representative of the Die Lenk (The Left) party, and other members of the same party.
The Cuban Ambassador provided relevant information on the economic and social situation in Cuba, highlighting the effects of the economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba and the unjust inclusion of Cuba on the list of state sponsors of terrorism. The unilateral and inhumane nature of this measure was made clear.
During the exchange, other topics of interest were discussed, such as the regional and international situation. Issues of common interest and the possibility of promoting relations between the two parties were also addressed.
This was followed by a screening of the documentary “La raíz del olivo” (The Root of the Olive Tree) by director Sergio Eguino. The documentary is a tribute to life and the invincible fighting spirit of a people. Its protagonists, Watan, Omaima, Murid, Baylasan, and Bassel, share stories of struggle, loss, and hope. Through their letters, their daily lives, and their memories, intertwined with the helplessness of being far away, they express their unshakable faith in a free future for Palestine, always with the constant support of Cuba, the country that welcomes them.
After the documentary, there was a discussion with those present, and Cuba reiterated its unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause.
From its origins, La Izquierda's political objectives included not only overthrowing capitalism, but also fighting for a more egalitarian, democratic, cooperative, and humane society. They opposed the excessive commercialization and privatization promoted by neoliberal governments around the world.
