Oslo, October 19, 2023. Meena Syed, recently appointed as the new director of the Section for UN Policy, Department for Multilateral Affairs, of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received the Cuban ambassador, Maité Rivero Torres.
The Ambassador expressed interest in continuing the positive working relations maintained up to now with the UN Section, which have been consistent with the cooperation existing between the two countries in the multilateral arena, particularly at the United Nations.
It was a good occasion for exchanging on issues that are currently on the agenda of the United Nations. In this context, the Ambassador thanked Norway for its traditional support, within the framework of the UN General Assembly, for the resolution that calls for the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.
John Petter Opdahl, ambassador in charge of the desk of Cuba in the Section for Latin American and the Caribbean of the Ministry, and Daffne Ernesto Mirabal García, second secretary of the Embassy, were also present at the meeting. (Embassy of Cuba in Norway)
