Cuban ambassador exchanges with new Pakistani scholarship students who will undertake medical studies on the island.

Islamabad, April 16, 2024 _On Tuesday morning, Ambassador Zéner Caro held a meeting with the three young Pakistanis who were awarded university scholarships to study medicine in Cuba.

Hamza, Muhammad Annas and Amir, from the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Phakhtunkhwa, will join seven other students from their country on the island, in what constitutes the continuation of the training program for young doctors for Pakistan conceived by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro in 2006 and through which around a thousand new Pakistani doctors have already graduated in Cuban classrooms. Amir's case is the most significant, because after several years, once again a young man from the tribal areas of Waziristan has been chosen for these scholarships.

At the meeting, in which the students received their assignment slips and their dossiers, the head of the diplomatic mission commented on the high quality comprehensive training and the humanistic vocation that distinguishes the medical career in Cuba, proof of which is the prestige enjoyed in Pakistan by the ELAM graduates, who proudly call themselves "Cuban doctors". At the same time, he urged them to take advantage of their time of studies and to get to know the Cuban reality for themselves, certain that they will find a country that -despite its difficult economic conditions- maintains solidarity as a principle.
