Indonesia, June 14, 2017. Cuban Ambassador Nirsia Castro Guevara met with members of the Indonesia-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group at the House of Representatives to review the results of the visit to Cuba last May of a delegation of the Mentioned Group. During the meeting the parliamentarians commented to the Cuban diplomat on the different exchanges that they held in Cuba, as well as other activities that they carried out in the Island.
Among the main results of the visit, which is a line of work, is the expansion of the development of cooperation and exchange in health. The parliamentarians identified areas of interest for Indonesia to develop within the framework of bilateral cooperation in this sector as of the signing last May 24 of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministers of Health of both countries, within the framework of the 70th World Health Assembly held in Geneva recently. The development of cooperation and the exchange of experiences in the health sector will be beneficial for both countries.
Other areas of interest to Indonesian representatives were agriculture and mining, in which the experience gained by both countries can be shared. They also identified possible investment and commercial exchange projects, which feasibility has to be studied.
The parliamentarians thanked the Cuban counterparts for their attention during the visit, while reiterating their enthusiasm to continue working for the development of bilateral relations.
Ambassador Guevara appreciated the good results of the visit and insisted on the willingness of the Cuban authorities to continue working to expand and strengthen ties with Indonesia.
