Saint Mary, Jamaica, 14 November 2019. The Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica, H.E. Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández, visited the parish of Saint Mary, located in the northeast section of the country.
In the headquarters of the Port Maria City Hall, the Cuban diplomat was received by Mr. Richard Creary, Mayor of the parish, Ms. Ethlyn Douglas, Executive Director, Mr. Larry Robertson, Regional Coordinator of the Parish Development Committees for St. Mary, St Thomas and Portland; as well as other local government officials.
The Jamaican representatives praised the historic bonds of friendship between Jamaica and Cuba and deeply appreciated Cuba's co-operation to their nation in various sectors, especially in education and health; while expressing their interest in continuing to further strengthen these relations of co-operation and mutual help.
In her remarks, the Cuban Ambassador underlined the deep historical links between the two countries and highlighted the current, fraternal ties of friendship and co-operation developed between Jamaica and Cuba.
The meeting was characterized by a dynamic and fluent exchange of ideas.
