Islamabad, April 25, 2024 _ Coinciding with the beginning of spring and the last school term of the current academic year, Ambassador Zéner Caro exchanged this week with students and professors of two important universities of Islamabad.

On Monday 22nd, accompanied by other Ibero-American heads of mission, the ambassador visited the stand of the Spanish language department of the National University of Modern Languages. In the area dedicated to Cuba, which exhibited a sample of literary works of José Martí and books on the history of the revolution and its main leaders, the ambassador spoke with several graduates in our country and with one of the scholarship holders who will soon leave for the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM). Appreciation for Cuba's solidarity work after the 2005 earthquake came in the testimony of one of its survivors, a university professor, who fondly remembered the Cuban doctors who stayed for more than eight months in his native Kashmir.

On Wednesday the 24th , responding to an invitation from the student collective of the Sociological Association of the Quaid-i-Azam University, the head of mission held a lively conversation with more than a hundred professors and undergraduate and doctoral students of that field. The dialogue, which lasted almost two hours, was full of questions about Cuba, its socio-political system, its history, Fidel and Che, its vision of human rights and the international situation. During the exchange, the interest and admiration among students and professors for what our island represents was evident.

The University of Modern Languages (NUML), founded as an institute in 1969, is the main university center for language teaching in Pakistan. The Quaid-i-Azam University, established in 1967 in honor of the nation's founder Mohammad Ali Jinah, is Islamabad's premier institution of higher learning with four faculties and nine research and teaching institutes. Its School of Sociology hosts 410 students from all provinces and regions of the country.  (Embacuba Pakistan)
