The Cuban ambassador expresses gratitude for the contributions made by Cypriot friends and supporters during the campaign to provide material aid to Cuba.

Nicosia, Cyprus, March 30, 2026. The Cuban ambassador to Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, thanked several friends of Cuba—or simply Cypriot citizens in solidarity with the largest of the Antilles—who decided to join the ongoing campaign to collect material aid and basic necessities from this island in the eastern Mediterranean.

The idea of filling a fourth container to be shipped from Cyprus—the result of the selfless support of hundreds or thousands of people who embrace the cause and fate of the Caribbean island—is gaining new supporters and volunteers every day. They are joining the efforts of the Cyprus-Cuba Friendship Association; the Pan-Cypriot Committee for Peace; the contributions of the “Caliente Dance Studio"; and, now, various regional branches of the Pan-Cypriot Federation of Labor of Cyprus (PEO), which have made their premises available to collect powdered milk, medicines, and other essential supplies to be sent to Cuba shortly.

It is this altruistic dedication and open commitment that will also inspire the Cypriots who will soon join the upcoming campaign of solidarity and support for the Cuban people, promoted by the Secretariat of the World Federation of Trade Unions from Nicosia, Cyprus, with coordinated actions in support of the island during the week of April 6–12, without equivocation, they hope to ensure that socialist Cuba finds in every member and friend of the WFTU from every country in the world a clear condemnation of U.S. aggression and its pressure and energy blockade against the island and that it is reiterated loud and clear, in a united voice, what is becoming increasingly difficult to hide: #CubaIsNotAlone.

If gratitude had a name on this Monday, the Cuban diplomatic mission would know how to call out to them in Greek, German, or always Spanish: “Thank you, Evangelia Samiou, Stefan Bechtluft-Sachs, Eleni Ioannou, Cleopatra Pagiata, Eleni Tzialouri, Mary Zinonos, Kyriakos Hadjitophis, Antonis Andreou, Annita Koni, and Miroula Markoul,” to name just a few of the moved and close friends who, from this beautiful and supportive Mediterranean island, demonstrate with great sensitivity and affection that Martian maxim that “Homeland is humanity.”
