Cuban ambassador reaffirms the condemnation of the U.S. blockade against the island alongside Cubans residing there and supporters of the largest of the Antilles

Limassol, Cyprus, June 7, 2026 – The Cuban ambassador to Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, reiterated this Sunday the condemnation of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. on the Caribbean island for more than six decades, a stance shared with Cubans residing in Cyprus and local friends and from other multiple nations present at the international event “Musical Footprints, a City for Everyone” in Limassol.

Considered the second largest city and the main tourist and commercial centre of the Mediterranean island, Limassol hosted last weekend hundreds of representatives from various communities and cultures living in different Cypriot cities, as an example of coexistence, respect, and solidarity among nations.

From there, the Cuban diplomat and the participating Antillean delegation infinitely thanked that space as a demonstration of solidarity with Cuba; they reminded that today more than ever Cuba needs the voice of friendly peoples, and they made an open and forceful denunciation of the policy of threats and energy blockade by the imperialist power against the Caribbean island, a message that received spontaneous expressions of support and accompaniment from many of the attendees toward the participating Cuban delegation.

They are joining the efforts of the Cyprus-Cuba Friendship Association; the Pan-Cypriot Committee for Peace; the contributions of the “Caliente Dance Studio"; and, now, various regional branches of the Pan-Cypriot Federation of Labor of Cyprus (PEO), which have made their premises available to collect powdered milk, medicines, and other essential supplies to be sent to Cuba shortly.

It is this altruistic dedication and open commitment that will also inspire the Cypriots who will soon join the upcoming campaign of solidarity and support for the Cuban people, promoted by the Secretariat of the World Federation of Trade Unions from Nicosia, Cyprus, with coordinated actions in support of the island during the week of April 6–12, without equivocation, they hope to ensure that socialist Cuba finds in every member and friend of the WFTU from every country in the world a clear condemnation of U.S. aggression and its pressure and energy blockade against the island and that it is reiterated loud and clear, in a united voice, what is becoming increasingly difficult to hide: #CubaIsNotAlone.
